Taking shelter from the murderous heat of Death Valley, California, the Anderson Clan and the newly orphaned Beverly exploration team enter into a cave pitted into a gleaming metallic cliffside. Inside it is spacious and strangely cool. There is a chill breeze and a soft hum vibrating through the grated metal floor up through their boots, into the soles of their feet, thrumming even in their chests. It is only a few moments before their eyes adjust to the dim light and they make out that this is no common cave but a room - a hold, even. Though neither group could possibly have any idea what they are getting into they decide to brave this strange, humming cave and search for a safe place to sleep for the night...
A strange cave...
Interior Conditions -- Artificial atmosphere that varies between sixty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit, with twenty-five to thirty percent relative humidity. It feels sorely out of place in the Mojave, however this environment is persistent despite outside conditions. Interior panels are made of dark metal that is painted over in all of the middle deck rooms (save the sick bay) with a stainless paint, the color varying room to room.
Lighting is scarce on the upper and main decks and limited to pod-like fixtures in the bridge and the furthest hallways and whatever natural light filters in - this contrasts greatly with the subsequent decks which are flooded in light. This contrast suggests that the two top most decks were not meant to be used on a regular basis, the pale green glow seeming more a safety precaution. The ship is well kept and in good order save the main engine rooms - due to severe damage it's unknown what the conditions were like in these rooms, other than expansive and bristling with all sorts of turbine granted threats of physical harm should you stand in the way.
The ship nearly breathes with energy, and movement behind the paneled walls. In nearly all parts of the ship there can be heard a faint hum, or the rush of water.
Despite the distinctly unnatural craft, many of the fixtures and rooms have organic elements to them. It's even possible that the glowing pod fixtures on the main deck are filled with luminescent algae. This, along with the strange animal sounds and earthy smell to the under deck, suggests a more sustainable origin. Though many of the objects found on the ship are not unlike modern human artifacts, including some basic beauty objects, lithium batteries, and even reams of paper bound into notebooks. Most, if not all of the interactive objects on the ship can be done so by the average humanoid among the party.[/ul]
... Even stranger intruders...
To the Beverly exploration party: Moderately low - Naturally curious, the Beverly party will generally be eager to stick their noses into every nook and cranny. While this digging may prove dangerous they were born for this - anyone can explore a forest or a desert but here they are exploring something from another planet! Though wary, the Beverly party is proactive, forging on ahead.
Overall: Moderate - Apparently deserted, you're more likely to trip down a stairwell than you are to encounter a feral animal or a dangerous sentient however the risk is still there. Watch your back but don't let that possibility keep you from butting into all the nooks and crannies, Beverly party!
Anderson clan, don't let your guard down - don't give anyone, not the creatures that made this ship, not the Beverly party, not even your own brother, get the jump on you.
Politics -- Having just recently joined up with one another and being forced into a situation where their views differ greatly conflict among the Anderson-Beverly party is likely.
